Blog Standard

As with any event, success is measured by the strength and effectiveness of the team. At MCCBD Headquarters we are happy to report that we do indeed have a very strong team!

Multicultural Children’s Book Day is thankful for its CoHosts. Our CoHosts are a group of select powerhouse bloggers who share the same diversity in children’s literature passions and beliefs. They also assist in extending the reach and spreading the word of Multicultural Children’s Book Day. These 11 blogs will also be host to the wildly-popular book review/blog post link-up the week of 1/27/16. We would appreciate if you could take a few minutes and visit each of these excellent blogs. These women were selected by the MCCBD team because of their true dedication to supporting diversity in children’s literature.

When I embarked on the journey four years ago to create a picture book about a little girl with magic hair who was also her best friend, I never realized where it would take me. I was inspired by playing with a loved one’s big poof of curly hair that sat on top of her head. I loved forming it into shapes and I would even make it talk. After quite a bit of cultural and academic research, “The Magic Poof “was born!

The Magic Poof

Picture Books are great, but I’ve always wanted my characters to come to life in a more animated form. I also wanted to take advantage of the access and interactive nature mobile devices.

Right on time for back to school, KidLit TV is teaming up with Pragmatic Mom, Jump into a Book, Franticmommy and Multicultural Children’s Book Day to give parents, teachers, and librarians a chance to win a multicultural book bundle for their school library.

School libraries play an integral role in the life of students. Many students can cite their school library as a place where a love of reading and learning is fortified. Throughout the country, budgets for school programs are being slashed, school libraries have been heavily hit. Hours for library time are cut in some schools, and non-existent in others. Furthermore, the tight budget impacts a school librarian’s ability to secure funds to purchase new books.

Starting today, September 15th and through September 30th you can enter to win a curated bundle of multicultural books featuring StoryMakers guests and additional kid lit authors.
