Guest post from Language Lizard Press, Read Your World’s 2024 Platinum Sponsor

Language Lizard is pleased to announce the addition of two new bilingual books, Leo’s Dogs and Together Is Better

Leo’s Dogs is a heartwarming and beautifully illustrated story about a boy named Leo who volunteers to read to dogs at an animal shelter shortly after he moves to a new country. Leo discovers that by volunteering to read to dogs, he is improving his language skills while enjoying the company and unconditional acceptance of pets. This book was written by Ellen Skowronski and illustrated by Maria Russo.

Together Is Better celebrates the kindness of neighbors and community togetherness through shared activities. With simple text and delightful illustrations, it reflects the strength and vitality of multicultural communities bonding by volunteering to help those in need, visiting with seniors, painting a town mural, and so much more. It was written by Diane Costa and illustrated by Grace Tan.

Both books include access to detailed lesson plans, English and Spanish audio, and printable activities to support diversity education. They are available in English only and in the following bilingual editions: Dari, Haitian Creole, Pashto, Ukrainian, Russian, and Spanish, with more languages coming soon.

Leo’s Dogs and Together Is Better are the newest additions to Language Lizard’s popular Living in Harmony Series, which helps explain concepts of diversity, kindness, and friendship. Other Living in Harmony Series titles include Be Kind, We Can All Be Friends, and Who Are We? This popular series is available in many languages and includes teaching resources and audio.
