Participate by Reviewing Books

Read Your World Day (previously Multicultural Children’s Book Day) reviewer sign-ups are now open!

Sign up BEFORE 12/31/24 and receive a FREE Diverse Kidlit Book to review for our annual event on 1/29/25.

Read Your World is a non-profit organization that works with authors and publishers to get their books reviewed for the event and also works to make diverse children’s books available for free.  Read Your World also offers a variety of free resources, teaching tools, booklists, downloads, and a year-round initiative to get multicultural and diverse books into the hands of young readers. Over 11,500 books have been donated to underserved kids, classrooms, and organizations to date, and the numbers keep growing.

On January 29, 2024, Read Your World (RYW) will celebrate its 13th anniversary of bringing culturally diverse books to the hands of children, parents, teachers, and librarians.  It is an online and offline celebration that attracts thousands of supporters, educators, parents, caregivers, book reviewers, and quality authors and publishers who join forces to shine the spotlight on diversity in children and YA literature.

How it All Works: Information for our valued Reviewers for our Read Your World Event

📚Reviewers can sign up via OUR AUTOMATED system to review a multicultural children’s book for our event.

📚Reviewers are then “matched” with an author or publisher that will supply them with a free children’s book to review. Our reviewers are encouraged to read the books and share their thoughts on them (a basic book review) in a review post that includes fun activities related to the book (optional).

📚Reviews must be honest, mention the book’s title and author, and disclose that the book was gifted to them.

📚Once their book review post is live (any time between January 1 and January 29), reviewers are invited to “link up” their blog post on the Big Giant Linky that will be found on any of our CoHosts’ sites and also the RYW website.

📚The Big Giant Linky will go live on January 29th, 2025.

📚 You don’t have to be a blogger to review multicultural children’s books for our online event. All you need to do is have a passion for diversity in children’s literature and be willing to share on social media platforms.
