MCBD is a non-profit organization that works with authors and publishers to get their books reviewed for the event and also works to make diverse children’s books available for free.  MCBD also offers a variety of free resources, teaching tools, booklists, downloads, and a year-round initiative to get multicultural and diverse books into the hands of young readers. Over 10,000 books have been donated to underserved kids, classrooms, and organizations to date, and the numbers keep growing.

On January 26, 2023, Multicultural Children’s Book Day (MCBD) will celebrate its 10th anniversary of bringing culturally diverse books to the hands of children, parents, teachers, and librarians.  It is an online and offline celebration that attracts thousands of supporters, educators, parents, caregivers, book reviewers, and quality authors and publishers who join forces to shine the spotlight on diversity in children and YA literature.

If you enjoy diverse kidlit or YA books and have a social media platform to share a review, we want to give you a FREE copy!

What are the next steps and how does this work?

📚Reviewers can sign up via OUR NEW AUTOMATED system to review a multicultural children’s book for our event.

📚Reviewers are then “matched” with an author or publisher that will supply them with a free children’s book to review. Our reviewers are encouraged to read the books and share their thoughts on them (a basic book review) in a review post that includes fun activities related to the book (optional).

📚Reviews must be honest, mention the book’s title and author, and disclose that the book was gifted to them.

📚Once their book review post is live (any time between January 1 and January 26), reviewers are invited to “link up” their blog post on the Big Giant Linky that will be found on any of our CoHosts’ sites and also the MCBD website.

📚The Big Giant Linky will go live on January 26th, 2023.

📚 You don’t have to be a blogger to review multicultural children’s books for our MCBD2023 online event. All you need to do is have a passion for diversity in children’s literature and be willing to share on social media platforms like:

  • Facebook Page or Public Profile *(Private Accounts Not Eligible)*

  • Twitter and Instagram *(Private Accounts Not Eligible)*

  • Pinterest

  • YouTube

  • TikTok

  • Amazon

  • Goodreads

**Please note, that not everyone is guaranteed to receive a physical book! We will do our best, but sometimes demand exceeds our supply of available diverse books. We will be able to provide eBooks/PDF copies to everyone who signs up.**

Important!  You have until December 31, 2022, to sign-up!  Books will not be shipped until November/December 2022.
