Welcome Spring with Habitat Activities!

Guest post from Language Lizard Press, Read Your World’s 2024 Platinum Sponsor.

Mark the advent of spring with the exploration of some of Earth’s most diverse biomes and the plants and animals that call them home. Using these fun and informative worksheets, children will learn specific habitat vocabulary, brainstorm how the animals might feel, and introduce the concept of climate change and the importance of conservation.

What Are They Thinking?

Write in the speech bubbles what the animals might be thinking based on the following questions:

  1. How do you think they feel when they are living in their habitat?
  2. How might that change with the weather (when it’s very hot or cold)?
  3. What are the animal(s) doing on this page? How are their actions helpful for their survival?

Find the worksheet here.

Habitat Vocabulary

Using typical habitat vocabulary such as biome, ecosystems, and endangered species, draw a line between the word and its meaning. Find the worksheet here.

Habitat Fill In The Blank

Fill in the blank with the appropriate words provided in the word bank. Find the worksheet here.

Habitat Discussion Questions

Brainstorm answers to the following questions which include:

  • What are some ways that animals’ traits help them in their environment?
  • What are some ways that we can help prevent damage to rainforests, coral reefs, and deserts?
  • Why is it important to have many different types of plants and animals?
