Loving Lion Books is a publishing house that creates and publishes gorgeous custom children’s books featuring and celebrating children and families of color. The books are sold exclusively on our website: www.LovingLionBooks.com.
Loving Lion Books and, very first book, Love Family, launched in June of 2017. The publishing house creates visually stunning and warm books that reflect families of color, multiracial families, adoptive families and generally families that are too often absent from children’s books.
We started Loving Lion Books to address the lack of diversity in children’s literature. For us, the lack of diversity was deeply personal. As parents and citizens of the world, we were dismayed to see how few books feature people of color doing everyday wonderful things. We knew, instinctively, that representation matters, but we did a lot of research to best understand the problem and help create a solution.
We are very proud of our first book, Love Family. We are also very excited that Love Family will have a choice for same gendered parents in 2018. As we publish more and more books there will be more and more character options available to ensure all children see themselves, and their loved ones in our stories. So, we will add stories that include single parents, women and girls who wear hijabs or chunnis, men who wear turbans and boys who wear patkas and kippahs.
