Authors & Publishers: Donate A Book

Read Your World / Authors & Publishers: Donate A Book

Are you a publisher or an author of multicultural books for children? Would you like to donate a book for Read Your World’s annual celebration? Would you like to have your book reviewed?

There are two ways you can donate, participate, and support Read Your World.

Donate your books to be reviewed

1) You can sign up to donate books for our bookmatching program (to be matched with a reviewer!) Just click on the image below.

Getting your book reviewed offers a unique opportunity to showcase your diverse and multicultural titles as part of a major online book review event. The Read Your World bookmatching program allows book enthusiasts, readers, parents, teachers, librarians, and caregivers to discover a wide range of children’s and YA books with diverse themes. Through comprehensive online and social media marketing, authors and publishers gain increased visibility with book reviews, classroom kits, book bundles, contests, giveaways, book lists, activity suggestions, and resource links.

Donate your books for a cause

2)  You can donate books that will ultimately end up in the hands of deserving teachers, librarians, parents, and young readers!  These donated books will be gifted to young readers, parents, and educators. There is no guarantee your donated book will be reviewed during the event.  Just click on the image below.

Any diverse books that are generously donated to this non-profit are used for giveaways, donations to underserved organizations, virtual party prizes (heavily attended by educators), and our FREE Diverse Books for Classrooms Project. Your information will not be sold or shared with any non-RYW personnel unless approved by the book donor.

What is a multicultural and diverse book?

The Read Your World Team reserves the right to refuse any book that doesn’t meet the RYW’s criteria for multicultural and diverse books:

  • Books that contain characters of color as well as main characters that represent a marginalized point of view. Children need to “find themselves” within the pages of the books they read.
  • Books that are written by an author of diversity or marginalized from their perspective.
  • Books that share ideas, stories, and information about cultures, race, religion, language, and traditions.
  • Books that embrace disability including “hidden disabilities” such as ADHD, ADD, and anxiety.
  • Books that show readers what is POSSIBLE — such as a book that shows an Asian child as an astronaut, a child from Sudan as an actress, or a biracial child as a world leader.
  • Books that embrace our world and offer children new ways to connect to a diverse and richer world.
